I am loosing hair too....

There’s a moment every spring where I start hearing the same thing from almost everyone in my chair:

“Am I losing more hair than normal… or am I just imagining it?”

You’re not imagining it.

After a winter like the one we just had—cold, dry, long, and honestly a little exhausting—it’s incredibly common to see an increase in shedding.

And while it can feel alarming, most of the time, it’s not permanent hair loss. It’s seasonal.

🌿 What is seasonal shedding?

Hair grows in cycles: growth, rest, and release.

During winter, a higher percentage of your hair shifts into that resting phase.Between colder temps, indoor heat, stress, and less exposure to sunlight, your body essentially slows things down.

Then spring hits…

And all of that resting hair?It starts to shed at once.

That’s why it can feel sudden, dramatic, and honestly a little scary.

❄️ Why winter makes it worse

This past season especially, I’ve seen:

  • Increased dryness → leading to breakage and frizz

  • Tight, dehydrated scalps → less optimal environment for growth

  • Higher stress levels → which directly impact the hair cycle

  • Less movement + fresh air → subtle, but it matters more than we think

Hair doesn’t exist in isolation. It responds to everything happening in your body and your environment.

✨ So what can you actually do about it?

This is where we take a breath—because there are options. And not all of them require a complete overhaul of your routine.

🥄 1. Internal support (slow + foundational)

If your body is depleted, your hair will be too.

Collagen supplements can support overall hair strength and elasticity over time. They’re not an overnight fix—but they’re part of the long game. Increase your daily quantity of protein and honestly..... get outside for sunshine. Nearly 70% of midwesterners are vitamin D/k2 deficient.

💧 2. Topical support (proven + consistent)

Minoxidil is one of the most studied options for supporting regrowth. It works by increasing blood flow to the scalp and extending the growth phase of the hair cycle.

It requires consistency—but for many people, it’s incredibly effective. This isn't however, recommended for use near the hairline or the temples as it can cause skin discoloration.

🧬 3. Advanced support (emerging + promising)

This is where I’ll share something more personal.

I started using GHK-cu , a copper peptide, as part of my own routine.

I inject it almost daily—not just for hair, but as a way to stay connected to what so many of my clients are navigating. A higher risk to reward ratio especially if you want to see a return on your skin health as well. But... it's harder to locate and may require a more involvement from a doctor or wellness spa.

And what I’ve noticed so far?

  • Slight redness at the injection site (very manageable)

  • Longer lashes

  • Clearer skin

  • And a deeper sense of accountability to my own self-care as I navigate my weight loss journey and my commitment to getting outside more.

I’m checking in on my progress weekly. And most of you have noticed how fast my hair is growing. It won't make hair thick right away. Keep in mind hair takes time to grow and follicles take time to strengthen.

💁‍♀️ 4. Immediate confidence (because sometimes you don’t want to wait)

If shedding has impacted your density or how your hair feels day to day…

Extensions, thickening products, and volumizing hold can be an incredibly supportive option.

Not as a “cover up”—but as a way to feel like yourself again while your natural hair moves through its cycle.

This is exactly why I offer multiple methods, multiple contacts, and multiple ideas.

Because there is no one-size-fits-all solution here.

🤍 Final thought

Seasonal shedding can feel overwhelming. But it doesn’t mean your hair is failing you.

It means your body is shifting.

With the right support—internal, topical, or even aesthetic—you can move through it without losing confidence in the process.
